Low-Point Salisbury Steak with Garlic Mashed Potatoes and Mushroom & Onion Gravy

Ingredients

For the Salisbury Steak Patties:

  • 1 lb (450g) extra lean ground beef (at least 93% lean)
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped onion
  • 1/4 cup whole wheat breadcrumbs
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • Salt and pepper, to taste

For the Garlic Mashed Potatoes:

  • 1 1/2 lbs (680g) Yukon Gold potatoes, peeled and cubed
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened almond milk (or any milk of your choice)
  • 2 tablespoons light butter or margarine
  • Salt and pepper, to taste

For the Mushroom & Onion Gravy:

  • 1 tablespoon light butter or margarine
  • 1 cup sliced mushrooms
  • 1/2 cup chopped onion
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 cups reduced-sodium beef broth
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
