CLASSIC CHERRY DELIGHT

Ingredients:

  • 1 1/2 cups graham cracker crumbs
  • 1/3 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/3 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 (8 oz) package cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 (8 oz) tub whipped topping, thawed
  • 1 (21 oz) can cherry pie filling
  • Additional whipped topping and fresh cherries for garnish (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Crust:
    • In a medium mixing bowl, combine the graham cracker crumbs and granulated sugar. Mix well.
    • Pour the melted butter over the crumb mixture and stir until all the crumbs are moistened.
    • Press the mixture firmly into the bottom of a 9×13-inch baking dish, creating an even layer. Set aside.
  2. Make the Cream Cheese Layer:
    • In a large mixing bowl, beat the softened cream cheese until smooth and creamy.
    • Gradually add the powdered sugar and vanilla extract, continuing to beat until well combined.
    • Gently fold in the whipped topping until the mixture is smooth and well blended.
    • Spread the cream cheese mixture evenly over the prepared crust, smoothing the top with a spatula.
  3. Add the Cherry Topping:
    • Carefully spoon the cherry pie filling over the cream cheese layer, spreading it out to cover the entire surface.
    • If desired, reserve a few cherries for garnish.
