Ingredients:
- 1 1/2 cups graham cracker crumbs
- 1/3 cup granulated sugar
- 1/3 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1 (8 oz) package cream cheese, softened
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 (8 oz) tub whipped topping, thawed
- 1 (21 oz) can cherry pie filling
- Additional whipped topping and fresh cherries for garnish (optional)
Instructions:
- Prepare the Crust:
- In a medium mixing bowl, combine the graham cracker crumbs and granulated sugar. Mix well.
- Pour the melted butter over the crumb mixture and stir until all the crumbs are moistened.
- Press the mixture firmly into the bottom of a 9×13-inch baking dish, creating an even layer. Set aside.
- Make the Cream Cheese Layer:
- In a large mixing bowl, beat the softened cream cheese until smooth and creamy.
- Gradually add the powdered sugar and vanilla extract, continuing to beat until well combined.
- Gently fold in the whipped topping until the mixture is smooth and well blended.
- Spread the cream cheese mixture evenly over the prepared crust, smoothing the top with a spatula.
- Add the Cherry Topping:
- Carefully spoon the cherry pie filling over the cream cheese layer, spreading it out to cover the entire surface.
- If desired, reserve a few cherries for garnish.
