Salisbury Steak Meatballs

Salisbury Steak Meatballs
Ingredients:
For the Meatballs:

  1. 1½ pounds lean ground beef
  2. ½ cup breadcrumbs (Panko recommended)
  3. 1 egg
  4. ¼ cup ketchup
  5. ¼ cup coarse grain mustard
  6. 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  7. 1 teaspoon seasoning salt
  8. ½ teaspoon pepper
  9. 1 teaspoon onion powder
  10. 2 tablespoons olive oil (for frying)

For the Gravy:

  1. 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  2. 1 large onion, chopped
  3. 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour (or cornstarch)
  4. 1 cup beef broth (or chicken broth, low sodium or no sodium added)
  5. 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  6. ½ teaspoon seasoning salt
  7. 1 tablespoon ketchup
  8. 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions
Prepare the Meatballs:

  1. Ground beef, breadcrumbs, egg, mustard, ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, seasoning salt, pepper, and onion powder should all be combined in a big dish.
  2. Blend until all components are well blended.
  3. Form the mixture into meatballs with a diameter of about 1½ inches.
  4. In a big skillet, warm the olive oil over medium heat. To prevent crowding, add the meatballs to the pan and cook them in batches as needed. The meatballs should be cooked through and browned on both sides after 7 to 8 minutes of cooking, flipping them regularly. After taking the meatballs out of the pan, put them aside.

Prepare the Gravy:

  1. Melt the butter in the same skillet over a medium heat. Add the chopped onion and cook for approximately 5 minutes, or until it becomes soft and transparent.
  2. To eliminate the flavour of raw flour, stir in the flour and heat for one to two minutes.
  3. To prevent lumps, add the beef broth gradually while stirring continuously. Stirring constantly, the fluid will thicken into a gravy.
  4. Add the ketchup, seasoning salt, and Worcestershire sauce and stir. Give the gravy two to three minutes to boil.

Mix Gravy with Meatballs:

  1. Make sure the cooked meatballs are covered with gravy by returning them to the pan. To help the meatballs absorb the flavours, boil them in the sauce for a further five minutes.

Serve:

  1. Move the sauce and meatballs to a platter for dishing. Add some freshly cut parsley as a garnish.
  2. For a full dinner, serve the Salisbury Steak Meatballs over rice, egg noodles, or mashed potatoes.
  3. Savour your meatballs with Salisbury steak.
