Ingredients You’ll Need
Main Ingredients:
- Small Marshmallows: 2 bundles (approximately 10-12 ounces each)
- Butter: 2 tablespoons, melted
- White Chocolate Pieces: 2 bundles (approximately 12 ounces each)
- Red and Green Candy Drops: 1 ½ cups
Step-by-Step Instructions
Step 1: Prepare Your Ingredients
- Gather Ingredients: Start by gathering all your ingredients and ensuring that the marshmallows, white chocolate, and candy drops are measured out and ready to used.
- Melt the Butter: In a microwave-safe bowl, melt the 2 tablespoons of butter. You can do this in the microwave by heating it in 20-second intervals, stirring in between, until fully melted.
Step 2: Melt the White Chocolate and Marshmallows
- Combine Butter and Marshmallows: In a large microwave-safe bowl, add the small marshmallows and the melted butter. Stir to coat the marshmallows evenly with the butter.
- Melt the Mixture: Microwave the marshmallow and butter mixture in 30-second intervals, stirring after each interval, until the marshmallows are completely melted and smooth.
- Add White Chocolate: Gradually add the white chocolate pieces to the melted marshmallow mixture. Continue to microwave in 15-second intervals, stirring well after each, until the white chocolate is fully melted and combined with the marshmallow mixture.
Step 3: Mix in the Candy Drops
- Fold in Candy Drops: Once the marshmallow and white chocolate mixture is smooth, gently fold in the red and green candy drops. Stir until the candy drops are evenly distributed throughout the mixture.
- Prepare the Pan: Line a square or rectangular baking pan with parchment paper, leaving some overhang for easy removal later. Lightly grease the parchment paper with a bit of butter or non-stick spray.
Step 4: Set and Cut the Nougat Bars
- Transfer the Mixture: Pour the nougat mixture into the prepared baking pan. Use a spatula to spread it evenly and press it down gently to ensure an even thickness throughout the pan.
- Chill the Nougat: Place the pan in the refrigerator and let the nougat bars chill for at least 2 hours or until they are firm to the touch.
- Cut into Bars: Once the nougat has set, remove it from the pan using the parchment paper overhang. Place it on a cutting board and use a sharp knife to cut it into bars or squares.
